Just purchased a new TORO Recycler 20340 Mower with the B&S 163cc engine. I have only used it twice, but each time after the engine has run about 4-5 minutes, the engine will briefly sputter about a half second or so like it is running out of gas, then run normally once again for about the same time period and repeat the same scenario. It has brand new fresh gas that I put into it so I seriously doubt it is a bad gas issue. Otherwise the engine runs just fine, and it uses a lot less gas than...

HRN Smart Drive, How does it work (vary travel speed)?

On the new Honda HRN (i.e. HRN216) series movers how does Smart Drive vary the mowers travel speed? Seems like I heard that it's a slipping belt system and
the transmission pivots to tighten the belt. The tighter the belt the faster the mower moves.
If that's true, that design doesn't keep the pullies aligned (parallel) which is seems to violate design rules. Prevent the belt from coming off a pulley?

Could find only minor mention of it after searching this forum.

I have a B&S 33S877-0013 engine in a Husqvarna CTH2138HR ride on. I am about to replace the cam in the engine and have a new sump gasket, oil seal, etc. I can't find the tightening sequence for the sump bolts. Does anyone have a diagram or point me to one?
What are the torque specs for tightening the the belt pulley bolt and engine mounting screws on the frame?

Sears 42" Deck Belt too short

I had a deck belt wear out on my Kohler engine 15.5hp 42" deck. I ordered another belt online since the original manual says the belt is 88" belt. The belt came in today and seemed a hair too short but did fit.
The belt is too short and the belt spins the blades some before I lift the engage lever. But the lever did lock in place so I started cutting the grass.

If the book says 88" but the belt is too short what does one do now?

I have a Troy Bilt 42T (made in 2018) that quit moving. The engine runs, blades turn, but when I engage the gear to move in forward or reverse I saw some white smoke from the front. I checked the belts and they are intact.

I have a 150BT backpack blower. the last month or so it’s been really hard to start. Maybe like 25 pulls. Normally 3-4. The primer bulb makes noise like it is working, but I don’t think it is. If I remove spark plug and dump a small but of gas directly in, it starts instantly.
I thought that the primer and the fuel followed the same route through the carb. So how could it run, but the primer not push fuel through the same orifices. BTW I removed fuel line from one side and primed...

Just finish cleaning the carb on my B/S mod 40m777. It had been setting up for about two years. Carb cleaning went very well. Put it all back together, fired up just great but all of a sudden I've got a cloud of white smoke all over and a good bit of oil is being spewed out of exhaust. I shut it down to see if I can find the problem. Oil left in crankcase is clean but the oil being spewed out is totally black.

John Deere - 210 - Electric PTO Belt Replacement Help!

Hello!

I have a John Deere 210, but I cannot find the manual on it. The belt that is on there now is M40223, but there is so much slack that when the PTO switch is engaged, it does not engage the belt. There is a handle on the front bumper, but I cannot turn it any further to pull that spring tighter. It's as far as it can go, because the bar that the spring is attached to cannot go any further forward. Any ideas? Is this even the correct belt?

help with PTO slippage issues

i have a 20hp twin briggs that had a blown head gasket that soaked the entire front end above and below

i cleaned it all up and replaced the belts and everything is functioning ok except the PTO that was working perfectly before all this happened

now the PTO is only turning the blades at 1/4-1/5th normal speed but the belt isnt slipping so i assume it has to be the PTO has oil inside the clutch

the question is, how to fix this? should i just soak the entire PTO in a bucket of gas to clean...

Alright so let me run you through everything I have done to my dads Husqvarna 128LD.

Clean the aftermarket carb my dad put on it last year.
Cleaned air filter and oiled it.
Used original gas lines and new ones of different size (thought the ones on it seemed a little on the big side for the little pipes coming out the carb).

Hi all. When I shutdown my Kohler engine (on Cub Cadet tractor), I hear what sounds like air rushing/leaking that pulses in sync with the crank (5 second video link below). It may be happening while it's running too...just not sure I can hear it. Has been doing this for a few months. I don't think it's affecting the power output, but not certain. The engine on my Honda GCV 160 just broke/seized after a loud noise. Now the pull starter won't turn it over any more. Checking the factory manuals, it says that the serial number is on the cylinder barrel, but I couldn't find it. There are numbers on a sticker on the the back of the engine though: GCV160LA0-MY1R250 and GJARA 5339913 - I assume these are the model and serial numbers. The top of the cover also Easy Start auto-choke as well. The entire mower is a HR215.

I have a XT1 Enduro Series LT 46 in. 22 HP V-Twin Kohler Hydrostatic Gas Front-Engine and Solenoid just makes a clicking noise.

I'm replacing the cam shaft in a briggs engine (31R607 0011 G1) cause the compression release broke. Everything else moves around ok so I think I got lucky andit just dropped in bottom.
Here's a pic of all the pieces I found in bottom. But there was a white plastic piece that I wasn't expecting. Is there a plastic piece somehwere between the arm and the camshaft itself (see pic)

I have an rzt50 with a 26hp B/S motor I am having trouble with. I installed a new pto switch and a new pto clutch, but the mower will not engage the blades. Can anyone give me a suggestion as to why its not working. I can drive it around it runs great but the blades won't kick in. Any help is appreciated.

So I'm having issues with my mower. It's always start at the first pull but engine is really unstable surging up and down until I stabilize the governor with my finger. Last year I worked on a similar engine used as a generator. I love those old Briggs flatheads, especially the 5HP I/C with sleeved cylinder, dual bearings and oil alert.
Si I won for five bucks the auction of the following motor, that was the description, I even don't know what was the usage/application :

My raptor SD has been nothing but trouble since it was new in 2014 . Been trying to revive this old tiller.Got the engine going then the gear box right tine axle seal leaked.Alittle struggle to figure out o.d. size of seal.Now go look for anymore leaks and two days later the rear drive seal for pulleys is leaking.Found old parts manual on line but the numbers are typed over eachother.This is why I struggled on the tines drive seal.Anyone know where I can get a seal size for this back seal before tearing into it?Looks much more involved to get the back seal?thanks

Toro Wheelhorse 8-25 won't start after rope hit

I was out mowing this morning and hit a small rope that was hidden in the grass. The engine and blade quit immediately. I removed the rope quite easily but when I tried to start back up it just kinda goes thump. The blade spins freely when disengaged but if I engage the blade it will turn about half a rotation and then stops. It's like the crankshaft gets hung up on something. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Snapper self-propelled walk behind mower with the B&S 7.0 hp OHV engine. After resolving some fuel system problems, I discovered when cutting that I need a new blade. I have a Husqvarna c42175 zero turn mower with a 17.5 Briggs Intek AVS single cylinder engine on it. It's a 2005 and the engine runs fine but is beginning to smoke a bit and it has a lot of hours on it. I have 18hp Briggs I/C opposed 2 cylinder from a previous lawn tractor type mower. It ran smooth and quiet and started easily.

I bought a 105" kevlar wrapped belt following web advice. Install was nearly impossible. I disconnected the tensioner and removed the spring loaded idler pulley on RH side. With force I loaded the belt and replaced the pulley to close it up. However now I cannot reconnect the tensioner, the screw is about 1 inch too short. I haven't determined where to pull or push to make it move enough to reconnect. Pulling on it doesn't work. Question: Was the 105" kevlar 5/8 belt correct? It does work...

Scag deck gear box question

Engine runs fine. Everything on the deck, spindles and idlers have good quiet smooth bearings. With the exception of the gear box. I can't turn it at all. With the belt off, I engage the PTO, I can't tell if anything is turning or not.

Tomorrow, there'll be people here that'll give me a 2nd set of eyes to see what's going on with the PTO engaged. But for now, just looking for some insight on this problem.

Yesterday, I started doing some mowing, and noticed that my Husqvarna 48" riding mower wasn't cutting a full "swath". I pulled the deflector up, and the R/H blade was Missing. A couple of days, prior, I used the rider to cut some tall. knee high weeds at the edge of the yard, and suspect that the blade flew off in that area. I walked all over that area, and couldn't find the blade....and I can't understand how something so Major could happen without noticing a big "bang" or some other...

OK, I give up. I removed and cleaned the carb, and after reinstalling it, the throttle plate does not rotate back to the idle position even when the throttle lever is at idle. It is basically at full throttle no matter what position the lever is in. I am almost certain it isn't the position of the throttle cable as the off switch works when the lever is pulled to STOP and the choke engages when the lever is pushed to FULL. Cub 1050 LTX just quit

Mowing grass and my cub 1050 ltx just quit like you turned off the key. Tried to restart, nothing, no clicks, no lights, nothing on the dash. checked the main power fuse and it was good. Disconnected the PTO and the voltage regulator, still nothing. Checked the battery voltage, 12.5v. Anyone have any ideas? I have about 90 hrs on the mower.

Is the Kohler Courage really that bad?

I recently purchased a 5 year old Ariens Zero Turn with a 23 hp Kohler Courage engine. Runs great, other than it burns the grass if i sit too long in one spot. Seller claimed it had about 150 hrs. Should I be worried? The Kohlers don't seem to get much love on this board. Thanks

My HRR216-9VYA has an issue leaving dry clippings behind every time I lower the mowing height. It has done this since I purchased the machine.

Montgomery Wards WS-66 chainsaw

Have a chance to get a Montgomery Wards WS-66 chainsaw. Not sure of the bar length. Don't know the year, but its old. Any idea if this was considered a worthwhile saw. Looks like a mack truck compared to my McCulloch. Said to not been started in decades but it does turn over and the bar and chain look good. Saw isn't beat up, just a little dirty.

I’m going crazy. I had a fuel float issue and had gas mixing with my oil. Fixed the issue, cleaned the oil out, and ran it for a few seconds to burn the rest out and turned the mower off.
